Some spares live under the trunk floor and lift right out. Others are winched underneath a truck or SUV and require a special key that goes through a hole in the bumper — and if that mechanism is rusted, corroded, or you can't find the key, that spare might as well be welded on. We deal with this stuff every week.
What this service covers
We carry spare-tire release tools, lube for stuck mechanisms, and jacks and impacts to swap the tire once we get it down. If the winch cable is truly seized, we can sometimes cut the spare down safely — we'll tell you the options before we do anything.
Common situations
- Ford or Chevy pickup with the spare winched underneath
- Suburban / Tahoe / Expedition rear undercarriage spare
- Cable rusted from years of Texas weather + I-35 salt spray
- Lost the T-handle rod that came with the vehicle
Pricing
Spare installs including a stuck-carrier job typically run $95–$140. Straightforward under-trunk spares are less.
